FSVP is a regulation for all FDA regulated importers. FSVP requires importing companies to collect and review documentation from their suppliers to ensure that their products are safe for distribution in the US market. FSVP applies to all FDA regulated products imported into the US, including drugs, food, medical devices, cosmetics plus dietary supplements. FSVP also applies when you import an ingredient made in another country – even if your company makes it here in the United States. FSVP does not apply to domestically produced dietary ingredients or nutritional supplements (except for finished products containing botanical dietary ingredients). FSVP began January 2009 and has been mandatory since October 2009 for all new imports of dietary supplements.
